SALARY RANGE: $21.51-$42.83

SUMMARY:
The Loan Analyst assists Band members in applying for housing loans while managing the administrative process of loan functions and the loan portfolio of the Band.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Post secondary education is desired, preferably in the field of finance.
• High school education or GED is required.
• Minimum of 3 (three) years of experience in the financial services industry is required.
• Knowledge of financing, lending and credit principles.
• Knowledge of federal, Band, and Housing Authority laws, rules, and regulations related to consumer credit.
• Ability to gather and analyze financial data to make credit recommendations.
• Good personal computer skills in a Windows environment, including Excel and Word software.
• Good communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to develop and maintain a reliable and accurate record keeping system.
• Ability to work with high attention to detail and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Experience in and sensitivity to Native American culture.
Must have current driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, proof of current insurance coverage, and insurability under the Band’s Auto Insurance Policy.
• Background check required that shows no theft or fraud convictions above a misdemeanor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist Band members in applying for Community Development loan programs.
• Advise potential borrowers about the requirements for a loan.
• Provide advice, guidance, and credit counseling to borrowers and potential borrowers.
• Prepare credit applications for consideration by the Housing Board.
• Ensure the accuracy of documents needed for loan applications to be processed.
• Communicate with borrowers, title companies, insurance companies, and other agencies.
• Service and monitor existing loans by following up with borrowers when there is a problem with the loan or when payments are behind.
• Maintain records and files of all loans; report periodically on the status of each loan and the Housing Departments entire loan portfolio.
• Assist in maintaining escrow accounts.
• Maintain a working knowledge and advise others on Housing Department policy and procedure.
• Monitor the inventory and condition of the Housing Departments loan portfolio.
• Recommend and refer to other Band, federal and state programs and services, when appropriate.
• Manage the loan programs waiting lists.
• Ability to communicate confidentially and effectively with Band Members and other departments.
• Basic knowledge of grant processes is desired

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Nature of work is such that incumbent experiences infrequent periods of modest stress levels due to workload. Irate or agitated constituents may also be a source of stress.
• Little threat of personal danger or risk.
• Hours are typically 8-5, but possibly with some extra hours.
• Local travel to all three districts may be required
