ICWA Case Aide Program Supervisor

SALARY RANGE: $61,900 - $90,227

SUMMARY:
The ICWA Case Aide Program Supervisor is responsible for providing reflective and administrative supervision to a group of staff of ICWA Family Support Aides, as well as providing on-site management in the form of coordination of client schedules, supervise activities of staff and direct outcomes, facilitate program outreach in each district, assist in management of client referrals, orientation and training of new support staff, crisis management, billing/reporting, progress reports, and general office organization. The ICWA Case Aide Program Supervisor is a member of the departments Leadership Team and serves as an important link between direct care staff and members of Leadership. This position serves in a support capacity and may independently handle a variety of situations involving interactions with providers, children, and families.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two-year degree and at least one year of experience in the Human Services or related field is preferred.
• Experience as a support aide, or supportive service, or service delivery to children and families in a public, private, or tribal program is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and the Minnesota Indian Family Preservation Act.
• Knowledge and experience working with Native American communities, culture, customs, and cultural law.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn and train in motivational interviewing, building rapport with families and keen use of observational skills.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Proficient computer skills, specifically in current versions of Microsoft Office Suite; and willingness to learn new skills as needed or required.
• In lieu of education, special consideration to include experience. A minimum of 2 years of experience in child welfare or human services related field or combination of both.
• Must have a current valid Minnesota driver’s license.
• Must be insurable under the Mille Lacs Band Drivers Insurance policy.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
• Must pass a background check
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversees the day-to day operation of the ICWA Family Support Aides, which includes supervising, guiding, reviewing, and monitoring their daily activities, and coordinating complex staff calendars and client schedules.
• Respond to client inquiries, as directed by leadership, by means of over the phone, in writing, through email or text message, and/or in person, whichever delivery is necessary to ensure client is answered.
• Communicate and work closely with the Lead Social Workers and Child Protection Supervisor to relay critical information regarding children and families and coordinate duties, as needed.
• Collaborate with Social Workers to provide comprehensive support to families.
• Helping families access community resources and services, such as healthcare, food assistance, housing, and educational programs.
• Assist social worker with transitioning their children back into the homes from various placements such as foster care or correction placements through visitation plans and/or transportation as specified in their scheduled visitation plans.
• May transport child and/or parent clients to a variety of settings including in-patient & out-patient treatment centers, aftercare programming, detoxification programs, adult & juvenile detention centers, rehabilitation centers, foster homes, hospitals, jails, medical, dental and eye appointments, mental health therapy, therapy, public or private schools, colleges, and other places as needed or as directed.
• Assists child protection social workers with various typing and documentation requirements as directed by supervisor.
• Attend required training sessions and meetings as directed.
• Assess the need for and obtain resources for the families.
• Attend review meetings or related case support meetings as necessary.
• Maintain files in conjunction with the social workers on the case.
• Comply with Band and Child Protection Statutes.
• May have contact with clients in the community and office.
• May monitor visitations with families observing interaction and prepare an un-biased case note of event.
• This position is expected to intervene in situations when necessary to ensure safety.
• Maintain other records, logs, reports, summaries, and provide to leadership.
• Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Depending on the nature of work, there may be frequent periods of moderate to high stress levels while dealing with peers, clients, and community.
• Work is mostly in doors in a controlled climate area.
• Moderate threat of personal danger or risk.
• Hours will vary and based off clients’ needs. Hours range from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with occasional work on holidays and weekends. May be needed on emergency situations that require being on standby or on call. On-call hours may be scheduled for coverage during Band events for emergent and crisis situations.
• Local travel is required; travel outside the state is very limited.
• Work from home may be permissible with a signed telework agreement.
