DAYS/HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8AM to 4PM
General Description
The Compliance Manager is responsible for supervising the Compliance Division at the assigned
location. The Compliance Manager monitors and inspects the Mille Lacs Band Gaming Enterprises to
ensure compliance with the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) Regulations, Mille Lacs Band
Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGRs), and Tribal-State Compacts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, three (3) years of gaming regulatory or casino gaming
experience; or seven (7) years combination of education and experience. - Supervisory experience preferred.
- Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA) experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of and ability to read, analyze, interpret and apply technical documents, Mille Lacs
Band statutes, Federal and State regulations and compacts. - Ability to respond to inquiries or concerns internally and externally with professionalism and clarity.
- Ability to maintain strict confidential information of all Gaming enterprise and GRA records.
- Excellent written, analytical, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Acute attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple, diverse tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritize work; strong
organizational skills in a results-oriented environment. - Critical thinking and problem-solving skills independently and as a part of a team.
- Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of others.
- Must pass pre-employment testing.
- Must be able to obtain a Class A Key Gaming License.
- Must have strong moral character.
- Must have current valid Minnesota driver’s license, and reliable personal transportation.
- Must disclose immediate family members and household members working for Mille Lacs Corporate
Ventures, the Gaming Enterprises and the GRA to avoid potential conflicts. - This position will require frequent periods of standing, walking, sitting, and ability to lift light (20 lbs.
or less) boxes or equipment. - This position will require working around the public in a facility where the employee could be
exposed to second-hand smoke, perfume, cologne, food and drink odors, dust, and other odors.
Mille Lacs Band Member / American Indian preference applies.
Duties
- Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate the performance of Compliance Officers at assigned location.
- Work closely with Compliance management to collect and organize Documentation of compliance
division activities. - Analyze and provide recommendations on all Office of Gaming Regulation & Compliance (OGR&C)
submissions, as applicable - Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely analytical information is communicated to the GRA on
a regular basis, immediately informing management of potential risks or violations. - Regularly inspect all gaming operations to monitor compliance with applicable tribal laws, rules and
regulations, requirements of Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), the NIGC, and the Tribal-State
Compact to insure the honesty, fairness, integrity, and security of the gaming operation. - Complete and assign assessments of all gaming areas to ensure compliance with applicable
regulations. - Assist in shipments notification, receiving, verification, installation, relocation, removal, storage, etc.
of sensitive gaming items for security and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Ensure
accurate records are maintained on same. - Ensure and assist in completion and documentation of all regulatory required responsibilities of the
Compliance Division at assigned location. - Work with Compliance Management to ensure timely review and approval of gaming promotions and
System of Internal Controls (SICs) submission. - Assist State and Federal regulatory staff during official audits, professionally present information or
respond to requests during meetings, classes and discussion. - Maintain open and professional rapport with internal control owners to find solutions for compliance
violations. - Stay abreast of current trends and practices within area of responsibility and communicate pertinent
information to management, peers, direct reports, and employees as appropriate. - At the direction of GRA Leadership, will assist with review, drafting and updating Mille Lacs Band
Detailed Gaming Regulations and internal policies to maintain compliance with technological
advances and changes in gaming regulations. - Consistently deliver positive, courteous, and professional guest service in all interactions with guests,
operations, visitors, vendors, and fellow employees. - Review and report any violations of NIGC Regulations, Mille Lacs Band Gaming Regulations,
Tribal-State Compacts and operational internal controls. - Hours of work are typically day shift, Monday through Friday, with flexibility and the possibility of
nights, weekends, and holidays due to workload or deadlines. - Other duties as assigned.
