Community Center Site Manager (Aquatic & Fitness Center)

SALARY RANGE: $63,185.69 - $94,778.52

SUMMARY:
The Community Center Site Manager represents the Mille Lacs Band area as a liaison for the departments/programs, while following the interests of band members. This position undertakes a range of functions to make sure the services run smoothly. This position also develops and maintains scheduling for the Community Center. The site Manager will be the main contact for all activities held at the Community Center.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or similar Bachelor’s degree preferred OR
• Seven to Ten (7-10) years of supervisory experience required.
• Eight (8) or more years of band government experience required.
• Must have or be willing to get fitness trainer certifications.
• Knowledge of the Mille Lacs Band governmental system and structure.
• Ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship with the public and Band leadership.
• Develop marketing policies and communicate those policies to community and Band members.
• Ability to initiate and monitor several simultaneous projects
• Demonstrated experience in creating successful marketing and public relations campaigns
• Ability to develop and maintain a schedule of all events at the Community Center.
• Strong knowledge of Band organization, regulations, policies and services
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong Microsoft PC Skills, including word and spreadsheets
• Ability to attain and maintain Certified Pool Officer and ServSafe Certifications
• Experience in and sensitivity to the Native American Culture
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Recommends and develops additional services for the Mille Lacs Band as appropriate.
• Administers and oversees all programmatic activities related to the Community Center.
• Administers and oversees the building and all of its functions. Ensuring all necessary maintenance is done to ensure safety and cleanliness of the property.
• Administers and oversees all alarms, security access, emergency systems, internal controls, HVAC, and recommends actions needed/required to the Community Development Department as needed.
• Administers and oversees all membership programs related to the Community Center.
• Creates, administers, and performs all Fitness Classes and trainings offered by Meshakwad Community Center.
• Prepares bi-annual budget for the Community Center operations, maintain budgetary and inventory controls.
• Processes financial transactions related to the operation of the Community Center meetings and projects.
• Responsible for the creation, implementation, and execution of contracts associated with the Meshakwad Community Center.
• Creates plans for successful implementation of Community Center programs and services.
• Functions as a liaison and advocate with Band members, Band employees, and the Band Administration.
• Functions as a personnel office for the Community Center staff.
• Coordinates, schedules, and informs band members of meetings and events held at the Community Center.
• Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Work is almost exclusively indoors in a controlled climate area.
• Little threat of personal danger or risk.
• Nature of work is such that incumbent experiences some periods of moderate stress levels.
• The Community Center is a 24/7 Operation, office hours are typically 8 – 5, but some extra hours may be required from time to time. May also involve some evening or weekend work, depending on activities, classes scheduled at the Community Center.
• Travel will be required.
• Must have a current valid driver’s license.
• Must be insurable under the Mille Lacs Band Drivers Insurance policy.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Background investigation required that shows no theft or fraud above a misdemeanor, no felony drug conviction and no sexual or crimes-against-a-person conviction at any level.
• A staff person with direct contact with or access to children in care must disclose the arrest, conviction, and applicant background information if that staff person:
(a) has a conviction of, has admitted to, has an adjudication of delinquency for, has been charged and is awaiting trial for, or a preponderance of the evidence indicates the person has committed:
- a crime against a child;
- an act of physical or sexual abuse;
- neglect;
- a felony;
- the same or similar crimes as those in this subsection listed in the laws of another state or of the United States or of any Tribal law;
(b) has a conviction of, has admitted to, has an adjudication of delinquency for, has been charged and is awaiting trial for, or a preponderance of the evidence indicates the person has committed any misdemeanor offense under Federal, State, or Tribal law involving crimes of violence; sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, contact or prostitution; crimes against persons; or offenses committed against children. The Licensing Committee may evaluate the nature and time of a misdemeanor assault charge as well as other types of misdemeanor crimes not specified in this section to determine whether employment is appropriate.
