Billing Assistant
JOB TYPE: Full Time

REPORTS TO: Finance Manager
SALARY RANGE: $20.00-$27.00

SUMMARY:
The Billing Assistant assists in the billing and collection of department receivables for public works billing to include solid waste and waste water.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Post-secondary education is desired, preferably in the field of business, finance, or booking.
• High school education or GED is required.
• One (1) to two (2) years of experience in financing or bookkeeping preferred.
• Ability to gather and analyze financial data to determine appropriate billing amounts required.
• Ability to maintain an accurate and reliable record keeping system.
• Good computer skills in a Windows environment, including Word and Excel software. Excel experience is required.
• Good communication, organization and interpersonal skills
• Experience in and sensitivity to Native American culture.
• Must have current valid driver’s license
• Must be insurable under the Mille Lacs Band Drivers Insurance policy
• Must have reliable personal transportation
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
• Background investigation required that shows no theft or fraud above a misdemeanor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Accurately bill payments monthly for, public works solid waste and waste water, , and other miscellaneous receivables.
• Apply payments as received accurately and promptly.
• Assist with prepare of per cap lists and payments.
• Assist with or prepare weekly deposits to OMB.
• Assist with maintenance of records and files and scanning of department records.
• Ability to communicate confidentially and effectively with Band Members and other departments.
• Basic knowledge of grant processes is desired
• Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Nature of work is such that incumbent experiences infrequent periods of modest stress levels due to workload. Irate or agitated constituents may also be a source of stress.
• Little threat of personal danger or risk.
• Hours are typically 8-5, but possibly with some extra hours.
• Local travel to all three districts is required.
