SALARY RANGE: $37,500.00 - $56,300.00

SUMMARY:
The 21st Century Learning Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, management, administration and participate in the reporting for the 21st Century Program for Nay Ah Shing Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.
• One year experience working with program management in an educational setting required. Three to five years of experience working with program management in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience in managing federal and state grants, including grant writing, grant reporting, grant management and federal and state grant rules and regulations is preferred.
• Prior experience in managing cooperative and collaborative grant program preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Prior experience in program and project development preferred.
• Prior experience in development of program assessments and evaluations preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with and understanding of Native American culture and is able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
• Must have driver’s license

• Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
• Background investigation required that shows no theft or fraud above a misdemeanor, no felony drug conviction and no sexual or crimes-against-a-person conviction at any level.
• A staff person with direct contact with or access to children in care must disclose the arrest, conviction, and applicant background information if that staff person:
(a) has a conviction of, has admitted to, has an adjudication of delinquency for, has been charged and is awaiting trial for, or a preponderance of the evidence indicates the person has committed:
- a crime against a child;
- an act of physical or sexual abuse;
- neglect;
- a felony;
- the same or similar crimes as those in this subsection listed in the laws of another state or of the United States or of any Tribal law;
(b) has a conviction of, has admitted to, has an adjudication of delinquency for, has been charged and is awaiting trial for, or a preponderance of the evidence indicates the person has committed any misdemeanor offense under Federal, State, or Tribal law involving crimes of violence; sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, contact or prostitution; crimes against persons; or offenses committed against children. The Licensing Committee may evaluate the nature and time of a misdemeanor assault charge as well as other types of misdemeanor crimes not specified in this section to determine whether employment is appropriate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Management of 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant programs.
• Supervise the staff of the 21st Century Grant program.
• Establish a youth advisory council to solicit student feedback regarding programming.
• Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with other agencies and services of the Band, and local agencies and schools that provide programs to children, youth, and adults.
• Develop and implement an ongoing communication to band members about 21st century programs and services.
• Review the 21st Century grant objectives and identify those programs and services that are necessary to accomplish those objectives.
• Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of programs on student growth and achievement.
• Implement an effective data management system to track the progress of all participants of 21st Century programming.
• Assist with the preparation, presentation, management and reporting of 21st Century budgets and data.
• Prepare and present various reports to Bureau of Indian Education, Mille Lacs Band and Nay Ah Shing School as requested.
• Communicate programming activities and goals through various means including social media.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Nature of work is such that incumbent experiences some periods of moderate stress levels. Primary sources of stress deal with employee and program participant issues, workload, and deadlines.
• Work is mixed indoors in a controlled climate area and could be outdoors for program activities and events.
• Little threat of personal danger or risk.
• Schedule is flexible Monday through Friday with total 40 hours per week. Some evenings and weekends determined by program activities.
• Some local and out of state travel may be required.
