Associate Director of Four Winds Lodge

SALARY RANGE: $44.19 - $63.90

SUMMARY:
In collaboration with the Behavioral Health Program Director the Associate Directors will lead clinical quality and program strategies to ensure proper client/family care is being provided. In collaboration with the Program Director these positions will provide ongoing clinical staff development; program planning, growth, development and sustainment Collaboration with other service areas is a vital component in this role. Associate Directors are responsible for the daily operations and management of their clinical area/department.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree required preferred with emphasis in psychology, mental health counseling, addictions or social work from an accredited college or university with current licensure or certification in the respective discipline. Experience and/or degree must demonstrate ability to work with co-occurring disorders.
• Must have knowledge and experience with co-occurring disorders; experience with treatment for underlying mental health and co-occurring disorders with addictions; familiar with mental health and addiction treatment interventions addressing co-occurring disorders.
• Understanding, knowledge and experience with dual diagnosis including challenges and efficacy; familiar with trauma informed care and impact on addictions and relapse prevention; experience in the treatment of multi-faceted integrative care to address addictions, co-occurring disorders and underlying areas of contributing factors of addictions.
• Understanding of family systems; experience with group, individual and family therapy.
• Knowledge of addiction treatment, theoretical approaches, dealing with addictive personality and relapse intervention.
• Knowledge of mental health diagnosis; diagnostic assessments and knowledge of screenings, formulations of recommendations and treatment planning.
• Knowledge of program planning concepts, principles and practices with a focus on building and maintaining a system of integrated care.
• Ability to provide clinical advice, guidance, and support to clinical staff in areas of specialty.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment to meet program outcomes.
• Ability to establish rapport and gain the confidence of the members of the patient care team, clients, and associates.
• If applying for the Substance Disorder Associate Director a current Minnesota’s Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy LADC licensure is required
• Considerable knowledge of traditional and non-traditional Native American behavioral health treatment models/modalities, the disease concept and best practice clinical approaches.
• Familiarity with the philosophy of Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous.
• Knowledge of applicable Mille Lacs Band statutes, Federal and State laws, rules, regulations, and policies relating to services offered in integrated behavioral health programs.
• Knowledge of the resources available inside and outside the Mille Lacs Band that can be used to enhance behavioral health treatment.
• Familiarity with and sensitivity to culture and tradition of the Mille Lacs Band.
• Commitment to multi-cultural programming.
• Ability to teach the highest level of ethics and confidentiality, with respect to maintain quality assurance and integrity of the programs.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to use Excel, Windows and Word.

Many chemically dependent people relate better to a counselor that is in recovery and can act as a role model in successful recovery. Therefore, while not mandatory that the incumbent be in recovery; consideration will be given to incumbent’s personal history. If in recovery, a minimum of 2 years of sobriety is required at time of hire and must be able to pass a Federal background check.
Must have current driver’s license, reliable personal transportation and have proof of current insurance coverage. Must also be insurable under the Mille Lacs Band’s Auto Insurance Policy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• In conjunction with the Behavioral Health team will plan, implement and participate in community networking activities
• In conjunction with the Program Director will establish program goals and objectives to meet program outcomes.
• Conducts face-to-face diagnostic/comprehensive assessments, risks assessments, and develops client treatment plan. Manages a caseload, of clients or families and/or facilitate groups, dependent upon program needs.
• Review clinical documentation to ensure quality and timely submission of documentation and coordination of treatment planning. Address deficiencies and provides constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with all HHS service areas and program directors/managers/supervisors to assure a strong integrated system of care is being provided.
• Attend and participate in meetings as an interdisciplinary team member. Provide for regular clinical case staffing sessions with behavioral health providers and case managers.
• Facilitate development of systems to ensure effective and efficient inter-departmental communication.
• Remain up to date on all required trainings that support clinical supervisor and licensure renewals.
• Assure timely, professional, and accurate completion of all clinical reporting requirements.
• Provide personnel with clinical training and opportunities for continuous development
• Monitor compliance to legal guidelines, internal policies and quality standards
• Make appropriate adjustments and modification to program clinical services to meet community needs.
• Network with other Tribal, State and County agencies.
• Provide reporting, and documentation on outcomes/accountability as appropriate for treatment, clients and the program.
• Assure continuity of care with an integrated model.
• Demonstrate knowledge of electronic billing/coding and best business practices.
• Maintain confidentiality of all program participants and records in compliance with Mille Lacs Band, Federal, State, statutes, laws, rules, regulations, and policies.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Nature of work is such that incumbent experiences infrequent periods of moderate to high stress levels.
• Work is almost exclusively in doors in a controlled climate area.
• Little threat of personal danger or risk, although working with client case supervision may subject incumbent to periods of moderate to high stress levels.
• Hours are typically 8-5, but may also require occasional "on call' availability to cover emergency situations.
• Will involve working with diverse and varied populations in our communities.
• Local travel is required; travel outside the state is very limited.
