Environmental Services Technician II

SUMMARY:
The Environmental Services Technician II performs maintenance on Band buildings, equipment, and support facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Four (4) year of experience of general maintenance and repair experience preferred;
OR
• Proven knowledge of building and equipment maintenance/repair techniques required.
• Working knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings required.
• Working knowledge of standard hand tools, operation of light equipment, and materials used in assigned work.
• Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned work.
• Knowledge of OSHA guidelines concerning hazardous chemicals required.
• Knowledge of proper disposal techniques for bio-hazardous waste required.
• Ability to work cooperatively as a team member, works productively without close supervision, and respond courteously to visitors and staff.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to carry out oral and written instructions.
• Boilers licenses required if pertinent to buildings.
• Valid Minnesota Driver’s License is required to commute to other buildings
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Completes assigned engineering/maintenance work orders.
• Completes assigned regular preventive and ongoing repair and maintenance duties at the prescribed intervals.
• Operates equipment, tools and machinery properly and according to safety guidelines.
• Maintains inventory of supplies.
• Performs other responsibilities or projects as assigned.
• Assists maintenance tech I in ground keeping duties.
• Monitors and maintains boilers and furnace conditions.
• Monitors building computer control systems.
• Assists maintenance tech I with cleaning duties as needed.
• Maintains and files accurate boiler records of preventative maintenance activities.
• Sets up meeting rooms for community, departmental meetings, funerals and ceremonial dances.
• Performs surface preparation and painting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Work exposes incumbent to conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.
• Work exposes incumbent to possible bodily injury from moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, or machinery.
• Work exposes incumbent to hazardous chemicals.
• Work is performed for sustained periods outdoors and occasionally in hot, cold, or inclement weather.
• Work requires use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
